Accreditation Workshops for SAMBICA and AMBICA If Attending Annual Meeting Also

Thu 8th May '14 - 1:30pm

£25.00

Accreditation Workshops for SAMBICA and AMBICA 8th May 2014

A workshop will be run facilitated by Jenny Clifford, Jennie Hunt, Jim Monach and Sheila Pike on 8/5/14 the day before the Annual Meeting. It will be at the Big Chill House, 257-259 Pentonville Road, London N1 9NL.

This will be a joint workshop which some of the time will be held in separate groups for those considering applying for the senior or standard version of BICA accreditation. All those delivering the workshops are experienced and active assessors, and with the exception of Jim, are senior accredited members themselves.

They are intended to be participative occasions in which the accent will be on discussing the requirements and regulations of material which is available on the BICA website. We will be offering examples of applications which have been successful and give live illustrations of how colleagues have tackled the issues of how most effectively to report their practice, CPD work etc.

We are especially indebted to those members for allowing us to do this.

The topics to be addressed will be:

• Agenda setting with participants
• Overview of the scheme & progress
• Practice report - audit and evaluation
• CPD - what counts?
• Supervision - core issues
• Role of a mentor
• Q & A on making an application
• Assessors' views of common difficulties
• Competences for SAMBICA [the separate workshop]

SAMBICA – this is open for those who hold AMBICA and those who consider their experience and standing is sufficient for them to go direct to apply for senior standing. Those who apply already holding AMBICA are not required to repeat the information submitted at that time.

The purpose of SAMBICA remains not to divide colleagues but to seek to encourage recognition amongst colleagues and those they work with that seniority and experience are important to recognize for the good of the profession of infertility counselling. Some colleagues, it is hoped, might find this of advantage in their negotiations with their employers. We all know how poor they often are in recognizing and accepting the special expertise of counselling.

A CPD certificate of attendance will be issued, which of course will be relevant to the acquisition of the hours required for accreditation.

Registration should be made on the website. Cost is £25 if attending the Annual Meeting, if not, £40. All further enquiries to Jim Monach
