Introductory Course for Practicing Counsellors working with Fertility Issues



Friday 16th February & Friday 18th May 2007 Following the successful completion of the first BICA Introductory course in 2004/5 we are now offering a further 2 day course starting this autumn, to be held in Bristol in the Cotswold seminar room, Southmead Hospital, Bristol. The aim is to give both new counsellors to this specialist field and those counsellors who would like an update for their professional development, information and guidance to support them in their work.

The course will consist of 2 separate days in February 2007. To complete the course each participant is expected to attend both days each day will cost £75.00.

The course content will include:

The role of the Infertility Counsellor
Working to a Code of Practice
Working in a multi-disciplinary team
Key factors in Implication, Support and Therapeutic Counselling and Welfare of the Child Assessments
Psychosocial Issues, including grief and loss, couple counselling, psycho-sexual issues
HFEA Inspections, counselling protocols, audits, reports
Supervision, endings, referring on, CPD and Accreditation
Participants case issues and dilemmas
