HFEA PAUSE DONOR CONCEPTION REGISTER (DCR) CONSULTATION

14th August 2018

The HFEA have released the following statement: Due to the withdrawal of one of the potential providers for the new Donor Conceived Register (DCR) we have taken the decision to pause the current consultation. We had hoped to implement a range of proposed improvements to the DCR but this will temporarily be put on hold to ensure that any future options are viable. Our priority remains to put in place a new model for the DCR that provides the best service and support for donor conceived people born before or after 1991. We will now work on a new proposal with the aim of putting in place an improved service with stable funding for a minimum period of five years. We will issue a new consultation document on the future direction for the DCR as soon as we are able. We will be engaging with key stakeholders as we develop this new model to seek their views. We are grateful to those people who have already given their views on the consultation and we will take these into consideration.”
