BICA has a network of contacts in Scotland, Wales and Ireland and the regions of England. There is a named infertility counsellor who helps organise periodic, peer meetings and more formal training events throughout the year. These are listed here and under ‘Training & Workshops’ if appropriate. BICA attaches great importance to these informal meetings for the consolidation and development of professional confidence and expertise. Many infertility counsellors work with little immediate support from their own profession. Active involvement in these groups is seen as an important aspect of preparation for accreditation. The Scottish group meets twice a year in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. All of those who attend are BICA members. It’s a friendly group, which encourages the sharing of experiences and knowledge. It enables professional development and provides an opportunity to network with other Infertility Counsellors and gain support from each other.
