Job Title: Fertility Counsellor
 
Grade: Agenda for Change Band 6 equivalent (Band 7 if BICA accredited or on achievement of BICA accreditation).
 
Hours Per Week: 15
 
Work Location: home working/CRGH clinic in central London: ideally one day per week on site.
                       
This is a new role and will involve working as part of a team of fertility counsellors offering specialist infertility counselling and patient support initiatives within the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) Guidelines and the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) Code of Practice.
 
This post would suit a counsellor who has achieved BICA accreditation and is looking for a new opportunity.  It would also suit an experienced counsellor who is accredited by UKCP or BACP or equivalent, has an interest in reproductive health and the ability, with appropriate support, to achieve BICA accreditation within two years of taking up the post.
 
The post holder will provide support and implications counselling to all patients and donors (individuals and couples) during their progression through CRGH before, during and after fertility treatment. The role will include contacting patients, who have recently received bad news, to offer support.
 
Excellent IT skills are required for this position, as the post holder will participate in the quality management of the counselling service to meet the requirements of the HFEA.
 
The post holder will provide specialist consultation, training and education on infertility counselling and related psychosocial issues within the clinic for health professionals, support staff and patients.
 
The role will involve attending online CRGH Open Evenings to promote the counselling service, and the provision of some early evening counselling appointments either face to face or online if possible.
