Congratulations from all at BICA to Professor Ken Daniels

Many members will be familiar with the work of Professor Ken Daniels from New Zealand. Ken Daniels is Adjunct Professor of Social Work at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. He has a longstanding interest in the ethics, policy and practice of assisted human reproduction and has published extensively in the field. His research interests have focused on the psychosocial aspects of assisted reproduction - donor insemination in-vitro fertilsation and surrogacy.

He has carried out his research in the UK, Australia, Sweden and New Zealand. He has a BA in sociology from Canterbury, and an MA in Psychology from Massey and Diplomas in Social Work from the Universities of London and Wales..

Professor Daniels received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services
to health in 2015, and is now to be awarded the degree of Doctor of Letters from the University of Canterbury. This has only been awarded a handful of times by the University and is a higher degree than PhD.

Professor Daniels had to submit a portfolio of his work which was examined by seven academics. He would like others he has worked with to know about his achievement, and hopes it can provide inspiration.
